finally fixed my iTunes/Vista/missing CD/DVDs issue.  I mentioned previously that ITunes and Vista don’t play well, but that the fixes are absurd.  ITunes says one thing, Microsoft says another, and still others say something else.  What I do know is that I didn’t have the problem until I installed iTunes for my iPad at Christmas and I’ve been trying to fix it ever since.  Actually did have it fixed and iTunes did an update that brought the issue back. (grrr!)  So, this morning, in sheer frustration, I simply deleted the Upper Filters from the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. If the Lower Filters had been listed I would have deleted them too. Now, every time I open iTunes, I get an error message saying that the registry settings aren’t present to allow for importing from cds and such, but, it still does work. Importing, burning, and I can use the cd/dvd drives for all my other applications too. One little thing…. You would think that the companies would work together to make the programs compatible… Why do they keep putting stuff out that causes all these problems? Ok… enough. That’s my rant for the day. :-)]]>
